Consistency is King

The secret to reaching your health goals

What is the one thing that can help you reach your health goal without actually knowing each of you individually (perhaps one day I will get to know you more)

It starts with one word:  Consistency

I have been lifting weights consistently (3-4 days a week) since I was 17 years old.  I am now 44 years old :) That is a long time.  52 weeks times 3 is 156 workouts per year for 27 years is 4,212 workouts!  Thanks to my parents getting me started!

That is it.  Whatever you do.  Consistency is King. Not perfection.

As author Jeff Olson says in one of my favorite books - The Slight Edge

Showing up is important, but its natural companion consistency is what makes it a powerful duo.  Showing up consistently is where the magic happens.

Which health habit do you want to become consistent at?  

Lifting weights, 

eating clean, 

quality sleep, 

meditation,

something else?

Whatever that answer is now we have to find a way to implement it into your life so you are able to do it consistently! 

Find a time that works 9 out of 10 times.

For example, if you know that the only time you can workout is at 5:30am then that is your time.  

You know that if you wait till later in the day excuses start to pile up.

So find a time with the least resistance and that will help lead to a consistent routine.

One last thing that helps regarding consistency. 

Have someone to hold you accountable!  

Find a friend to workout with or a coach to help keep you on target.
